Waste Management, the nation’s largest waste services provider, operates the Trail Ridge Landfill serving the City of Jacksonville and Duval County area of Northeast Florida. The site is owned by the City of Jacksonville, and Waste Management has a life-of-site operational agreement with the city. The site provides environmentally responsible solid waste management to the area and employs 25 people at the landfill.
The site is a Class I landfill permitted to accept non-hazardous municipal solid waste, including household garbage, commercial waste and special waste. Employees are trained to identify nonconforming wastes, which are separated and collected for proper offsite disposal. In addition, Trail Ridge Landfill is permitted by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection as a waste tire processing site.
